The Nuvolos Fellowship Program supports the next generation
of scientists, PhD candidates, postdocs and research
software engineers, who champion reproducibility and
scalable research practices.
Nuvolos Fellows receive complimentary platform access
plus cloud credits worth up to $5,000 to scale their
computational and storage needs.
Why Apply for Nuvolos Fellowship
- $5,000 in Nuvolos cloud credits. Fellows receive an annual allocation of compute and storage resources (equivalent to $5K USD) to scale computational workflows, manage complex datasets, and run large-scale analyses securely.

Eligibility
Who Can Apply
The Fellowship is open to:
- PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and research software engineers.
- Researchers working in computational fields (e.g. AI/ML, bioinformatics, economics, physics, statistics, data-intensive science).
- Applicants with an interest in reproducible, shareable workflows.
You are a good fit if you can:
- Show work or intent in scalable/reproducible research.
- Outline how you’ll contribute to the community (e.g. a talk, blog post, or shared artifact).
- Remain affiliated with an academic or research institution during the fellowship.

Selection Process
How the Application Works
1. Quick application (10 minutes). Submit basic details, project summary, and profile links (GitHub/ORCID/Scholar). No reference letters or transcripts at this stage.
2. Shortlisting & follow-up. Selected applicants will be invited to provide a one-page plan and a brief advisor or PI endorsement. Templates provided.
3. Fellowship offer & onboarding. Accepted fellows receive credits, setup support, and join the Nuvolos network.
4. Submission period for 2026 end on November 6th!
5. The decision for accepted fellowship submissions will be provided by November 27th.

FAQs
Here are answers to common questions about eligibility, evaluation, and benefits.
Q: Do I need to be a full-time PhD student?
A: No. We welcome PhD candidates, postdocs and RSE professionals.
Q: Is my university eligible for the Nuvolos PhD Fellowship Program?
A: Eligible universities are accredited research institutions that award research degrees to PhD students in computational sciences (or any adjacent fields): e.g. applied mathematics, statistics, econometrics, computational biology, physics, etc.
Q: How are applications evaluated?
A: We evaluate applications on the strength of the research proposal, the expected research impact, and student academic achievements. Strong research proposals involve innovative concepts relevant to the computational sciences that can benefit from the Nuvolos platform. Essay responses are evaluated in addition to application materials to determine an overall recommendation.
We will not consider incomplete proposals.
After we have notified Nuvolos PhD Fellowship recipients, the Fellowship is effective starting the following academic semester.
Q: Is there a stipend?
A: The fellowship provides Nuvolos cloud credits worth of and professional development opportunities rather than direct cash funding.
